Committees

Mid Atlantic BX relies on our members to take an active part in MABX leadership. Through participation with a committee you have a chance to get involved with the growth of the association. The committees meet periodically to enhance the operation of MABX. Time commitment to a committee is minimal, while the rewards reach every member.

Activities Committee
The Activities Committee is charged with the responsibility to arrange social and recreational functions where members can meet, relax and become better acquainted; this includes the Celebration of Excellence awards banquet, Past President’s recognition celebration, Annual Golf Outing, quarterly networking events, and other events delegated to it by the Board of Directors.
 
 
Architects
The Architects Committee is charged with the responsibility to foster closer acquaintanceship and understanding between architects and contractors such as arranging occasional meetings to discuss problems and difficulties in an effort to find amicable solutions and such other duties as may be delegated by the Board of Directors.
 
 
Building Code, By-Laws & Legislation
The Building Code, By-Laws & Legislation Committee is charged with the responsibility to review legislation of importance to the construction industry at the local, state or national level on matters affecting the membership. This committee reviews the By-Laws annually to stay updated with MABX’s current policies.
 
 
Craftsmanship
The Craftsmanship Committee is charged with the recognition and encouragement of outstanding workmanship of the craftsman in their application of extra effort to display true craftsmanship and ingenuity on the job.


Executive Committee
The Executive Committee, consisting of the President, President-Elect, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer, subject to the approval of the Board of Directors, shall establish MABX policy. The committee shall perform such duties not in conflict with the By-Laws, as may be delegated to it by the Board of Directors.
 
The committee shall from time to time, and as often as shall be directed, submit reports to the Board of Directors, give information and make recommendations concerning the financial and general condition of Mid Atlantic BX.
 
In between meetings of the Board of Directors, the President is charged with the responsibility to see that appropriate measures are taken to advance the interests and objectives of the association.
 
The committee chairman is charged with the responsibility to see that MABX policy, as determined by the Executive Committee, is followed. The Secretary is charged with the responsibility of administration.
When the President and the chairman are not available, on the spot decisions shall be made by the Secretary in accordance with the provisions of MABX’s By-Laws.


Finance & Future Planning
The Finance Committee is charged with the responsibility to prepare an annual budget for Mid Atlantic BX to serve the members with a program of services and activities and to present it to the Board of Directors concerning the financial and general condition of MABX and to recommend any necessary revisions during the budget year.
 
The Future Planning Committee is charged with the responsibility to study ways and means of providing new services and activities as well as improvements to our present services and activities; to strengthen Mid Atlantic BX which will enable us to better serve our members, our industry and our community.


General Contractors
The General Contractors Committee is charged with the responsibility to hold occasional meetings in an effort to promote better understanding in all phases of the building industry; to improve the work procedure on construction projects between the general contractor, subcontractors and material supplier, and to report their recommendations to the Board of Directors. 


Member Services
The Member Services Committee is charged with the responsibility to review the current membership services annually. In addition, it will make every effort to add new proposed services as needed. 


Membership
The Membership Committee is charged with the responsibility to take measures to maintain and increase Mid Atlantic BX Membership; to compile a list of eligible prospects, to direct a year round campaign and, if possible, reinstate members who have resigned and make a monthly report to the Board of Directors.


Nominating
The Nominating Committee is charged with the responsibility to nominate candidates to fill all elective offices of the corporation to be acted on at the Annual Meeting.
 
 
Property
The Property Committee is charged with the responsibility to maintain the building, furniture and equipment and to make recommendations to the Board of Directors for improvements to the building and the purchase of furniture and equipment. The committee oversees the rental of portions of the building to prospective tenants, rents and terms of rental agreements and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors for approval.
 
 
Public Relations & Publicity
The Public Relations & Publicity Committee is charged with the responsibility of promoting public relations and publicity for the benefit of the Mid Atlantic BX Members.
 
 
Safety
The Safety Committee is charged with the responsibility to develop a Mid Atlantic BX safety program; to encourage top management to teach safety and provide proper instructions to every man on the payroll to make him a good, steady, safe workman. The committee should arrange for occasional safety meetings to promote safe working conditions in the members’ offices and on their job sites.


Subcontractors
The Subcontractors & Suppliers Committee is charged with the responsibility to hold occasional meetings in an effort to promote better understanding among all phases of the building industry and to help solve problems that may arise between general contractors, subcontractors and material suppliers and to report recommendations, if any, to the Board of Directors.
