This week in construction history:
On June 11, 1825, the first cornerstone was laid for Fort Hamilton in New York City. Construction took six years and $500 thousand to complete. The fort was built on a site where a small American battery fired into on of the British men-of-war convoying troops to suppress the American Revolution.
