Mid Atlantic BX to celebrate 40th anniversary of Craftsmanship Awards
02/27/2012
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
HARRISBURG, Pa.
–
On March 15, 2012, Mid Atlantic BX (MABX) will present the 40
th
annual Craftsmanship Awards during the Celebration of Excellence Annual Awards Night at the Radisson Hotel Harrisburg.
MABX, a trade association serving the construction industry, began presenting the
Craftsmanship Awards in 1972. Nearly 600 construction professionals have received the awards. The Craftsmanship Awards go to the men and women directly responsible for the outstanding work performed, rather than only the company behind the project.
“Many construction project awards are handed to the companies that perform the work. The Craftsmanship Awards allow those companies to recognize the skilled men and women who take a concept and turn it into a completed project,” Dave Edmondson, chairman of the MABX Craftsmanship Committee said.
Each year, MABX members nominate craftsmen for the awards. The Craftsmanship Committee then reviews the nominations and visits the construction project to evaluate the work completed. Projects that meet the committee’s criteria will earn awards.
This year, 25 individuals will receive Craftsmanship Awards. The winning projects range from new school construction to sheet metal ductwork installation.
“We’re very honored to recognize these 25 individuals in the 40
th
year of this awards program,” Chad Harvey, Secretary to the MABX Board of Directors, said. “The winners represent the overall MABX membership. They work for companies of varying sizes, and specialize in a number of different trades.”
Celebration of Excellence takes place March 15, 2012 at the Radisson Hotel Harrisburg in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. The awards night starts at 6 p.m. In addition to the Craftsmanship Awards, MABX will present the Safety Awards to seven companies that have taken extraordinary steps to protect their employees, as well as the Craftsman of the Future awards to high school seniors who have excelled in construction-related courses.
